Inner Work

Inner work is where you look within and actively choose to heal those parts of you that still hurt you. It is to look within yourself and thank that which has been keeping you safe and release that which is no longer serving you.

This is the most important work you will ever accomplish on this earth. It takes bravery and courage to look at the whole you without judgement and negativity, to accept where you have failed and where you have succeeded, to identify what to work through and celebrate what you have overcome. There are many types of inner work that you can do. I will focus on three: shadow work, mirror work, and reflection. For me, these are the three most effective inner work I have done.

Shadow work is working on your subconscious mind to uncover and heal the hidden and repressed parts of you. It is to go into the darkness and discover what is hiding in there so you can heal. Shadow work isn't all the negative aspects of what you don't like about yourself. It is often where our limiting beliefs about ourselves were planted and grew.

Mirror work is probably my favorite type of inner work. This is where you look at yourself in the mirror while reaffirming yourself with affirmations. I have a playlist and I sing to myself in the mirror as I hype myself up each morning. The important thing for mirror work is to look yourself in the face as you implement positive ideologies into you.

Reflection is another great way to do inner work. Reflection can be done a variety of ways. You can reflect on goal work, on your career decisions, on your habits. The list is endless. By simply reflecting on the choices you make through the year is a great way to stay on track to your dreams and becoming the person you want to be.
