when a situation arises out of your control, find a quiet place and use your favorite breathing technique until you are calm and regulated
Breathwork
Breathwork is different techniques that you can use to intentionally calm and regulate your nervous system. There are a variety of different ways to do this. Essentially by focusing on your breathing, your nervous system can relax and recenter in times of chaos and the unknown. When you practice breathwork in the safe times, your body will know how to respond when less ideal moments come around.
Please know that if you suffer from any medical condition or simply have questions, always talk to your medical provider first! Below are a variety of techniques to look at. Feel free to look into breathwork further or even hire a breathwork coach if this helps you. My favorite is the 4x4x4. This is where you breathe in slowly for four seconds, hold for four seconds, and breathe out for four seconds. You repeat as many times as needed to help calm and regulate you.
